Regional Growth

"Our aim is to boost prosperity and opportunity in coastal communities by working with government to create more pro-investment conditions for maritime businesses such as ports and by creating a network of regional maritime cluster organisations to foster collaboration between industry, local government and academia to drive growth."

Maritime makes a unique contribution to coastal communities across the United Kingdom. The industry is economically and emotionally hardwired into the fabric of these communities and makes a significant contribution to many aspects of their day to day activity.

Our aim is to boost prosperity and opportunity in coastal communities by working with government to create more pro-investment conditions for maritime businesses such as ports and by creating a network of regional maritime cluster organisations to foster collaboration between industry, local and regional government and academia with the aim of driving growth.

Recent projects and priorities have included:

  • Covid-19: ensuring regional priorities sit at the heart of post-pandemic economic recovery
  • Freeports: supporting regions to maximise the opportunity for jobs, growth and investment that sits behind this flagship government policy
  • Net Zero: bringing businesses engaged with projects in this sphere to deliver zero carbon emissions together with regional parliamentarians and stakeholders to foster collaboration
  • Clean Maritime: briefing regional stakeholders on government plans for a projects to deliver the principles of the government’s ’10 Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution’
  • Coastal Communities – developing, lobbying for and implementing a realistic set of policy priorities focused on driving jobs and growth around the United Kingdom.
