Ian Hampton
Chair, Diversity in Maritime Taskforce
Ian has worked within shipping and shipping logistics for his entire career. He began his time at Sea as a Deck Officer and ended his sea career working onboard Cunard Line before transferring ashore within the wider Carnival Corporation & PLC.
For the last 10 years, Ian has worked for Stena. He initially began in Northern Marine as their Group HR Director, becoming responsible for shore employees as well as the Commercial Business Unit Northern Marine Manning Services. For the past 5 years he has been within Stena Line, acting as the Chief People, Communications and Sustainability Officer and Chief Operating Officer, as of last year. In this role, he is responsible for their fleet of vessels, safety and security, including all of the crew onboard.
Throughout his career, Ian has consistently driven a culture that welcomes everyone. He actively promotes an inclusive workplace where people can feel safe and be themselves.
Ian said: "There is no war on talent if we embrace diversity and create an environment that attracts and retains talent. The notion of lacking skills is a token label. The true reality is that sourcing people from a traditional business pipeline of talent does not provide a sustainable strategy."
