Notably recognised by Tynwald, the Isle of Man Parliament, as the primary campaigner for the Equal Marriage Bill, which gained Royal Assent in 2016, Lee has been a key figure in advancing LGBTQ+ rights both locally and within the maritime community. As Chair of Maritime UK's Pride in Maritime network, appointed in 2024, Lee continues to champion diversity and inclusion across the industry.

He serves as Chair of the Health Services Consultative Committee, an independent board advising the Isle of Man's Department of Health and Social Care, and Chair of the Isle of Man Constabulary Scrutiny Board, representing the island’s diverse communities. Additionally, Lee sits on the Veterans Advisory Board, appointed by the Council of Ministers and Tynwald.

Beyond these roles, Lee is actively involved with various charitable organisations. He is a trustee of The Seafarers' Charity, where he is Chair of the Development Committee and The King George's Fund for Sailors (KGFS Isle of Man), as well as an ambassador for Seas Your Future, I EXIST TOO, and EYESEA, where he promotes environmental and social causes related to the maritime sector.
