Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition

tpp

In November the Prime Minister announced the government's Ten Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution

The plan sets out activity and investment from government to support the transition to net zero. On maritime, the plan recognises the need to provide specific and additional support to the sector, in a similar manner to which it supports aviation: "Supporting difficult-to-decarbonise industries to become greener through research projects for zero-emission planes and ships.

The plan includes a specific funding commitment:

  • Greener maritime: £20 million for a competition to develop clean maritime technology, such as feasibility studies on key sites, including Orkney and Teesside.

This Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition builds on the vision set out in the Clean Maritime Plan and underlines the government’s commitment to addressing emissions from this sector. This one-year ‘springboard programme’ will lay the foundation for a network of real world projects to kick-start government investment in decarbonising the maritime sector ahead of COP26.

To further support applicants wishing to apply for the Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition, KTN, in collaboration with Maritime UK, are hosting three consortia building events. These events aim to help organisations search for consortium partners regardless of how far your project idea has progressed.

During each event participants will have the opportunity to introduce themselves and their project ideas, and network with other participants in facilitated breakout room discussions.
