The Seafarers’ Charity announced as designated Charity for the Maritime UK Awards 2024
Maritime UK is delighted to announce The Seafarers’ Charity as the chosen charity for the Maritime UK Awards 2024, which will be held at the Titanic Museum in Belfast on 5 June.
The Maritime UK Awards provide an opportunity for industries across the UK to demonstrate their incredible work in a wide range of fields including seafarers’ welfare and diversity & inclusion.
The Seafarers’ Charity has worked to improve the lives of all who work at sea and their families for more than a century, reducing the hardships experienced by seafarers throughout their lifetime both at sea and ashore, injecting at least 2 million in funding to support the safety and welfare of seafarers, each and every year.
Chris Shirling-Rooke, Chief Executive of Maritime UK, said: “We are thrilled to support the amazing work of the Seafarers’ Charity through the Maritime UK Awards 2024. People are a key part of the maritime community and it is important that we look after our seafarers, supporting them at every stage of their professional journey and beyond.”
Deborah Layde, Chief Executive of The Seafarers’ Charity, said: “We believe a career at sea should be fulfilling, rewarding, safe and free from the unique hardships that can occur in a seafaring role. For over 100 years, we have been the central fundraiser for maritime welfare. We are at the centre of an ecosystem of support. To bolster this ecosystem, we fundraise. We look forward to your financial donations on the night. ”
The Maritime UK Awards take place every year and are open to companies from across the breadth of the maritime sector including its shipping, ports, services, engineering, and leisure marine industries.
