News: Seafarers UK to host 24 Peaks Challenge reception

For nearly a decade Seafarers UK has coordinated one of the most demanding and rewarding team-building events in the UK. The charity’s ‘24 Peaks Challenge’ sees teams conquer two dozen summits across the Lake District, all over 2,400 feet, and completed within 24 hours.

The course is 31 miles long and includes the highest peak in England, Scafell Pike. Over two days, 8-9 July 2017, up to 30 teams of four-six walkers will take in some of the most stunning countryside in Cumbria, including rivers, moorland, farms and forest. All participants need to be physically fit, with determination and self-belief, not to mention team spirit, to get them to the finish line!

On 30 November Seafarers UK will host a reception at the UK Chamber of Shipping’s HQ for teams and individuals interested in taking part in 2017, the charity’s centenary year.

Commodore Barry Bryant CVO RN, Director General of Seafarers UK, said ‘We hope next summer’s event will be our biggest and best ever, a fitting tribute to 100 years of work supporting seafarers in need, their families and dependants.’

The reception will enable prospective teams to meet previous participants, over canapes and wine. There will also be a short presentation by the event organisers and an opportunity to ask questions.
