News: Industry urged to respond as Seafarer Projection Survey deadline extended
Due primarily to the holiday season being upon us, DfT has confirmed that their survey being conducted by Oxford Economics for the Seafarers Projections Study has been extended for another few weeks.
The Seafarer Projection Study will help both government and industry plan for the future skills needs for our industry. The findings will help inform Maritime UK's own work, including the development of an industry future skills strategy.
Maritime UK urges those who've received a letter requesting that they respond to the survey to do so. It is equally relevant for those organisations who do not employ seafarers either at sea or onshore to respond as those who do; this is useful information for government and industry to fully understand the demand for these skills across the breadth of the industry.
It's crucial that as many respond to the survey as possible - helping ensure that government policy is aligned with industry need going forward.
Just as Maritime UK and its members are working hard to deliver industry recommendations from within the Maritime Growth Study, government are working to deliver its recommendations too. The Seafarer Projection Study was a key recommendation from the MGS.
If there are any mislaid letters, please contact the DfT and they will email through the survey link and an unique ID to participate.
