News: Maritime UK Chair responds to general election result

Commenting on the result of the general election, Maritime UK Chair, Harry Theochari, said:

"We urge the Prime Minister to use his majority to give confidence and certainty to businesses by preventing a damaging and disorderly Brexit.

"Leaving the EU is a mammoth task and we will continue to assist government with preparing for departure and in working on the future trading relationships our country will agree with both the European Union and others across the world. As the sector that facilitates 95% of the UK's global trade, maritime is critical to that mission.

"Then, we look forward to making progress on the challenges of our age - decarbonisation, boosting our coastal communities, investing in our workforce and making the UK the most competitive of places to do business."
