Maritime UK Launches General Election Manifesto
On Tuesday 23rd April, Maritime UK was delighted to launch its highly-anticipated Maritime Manifesto 2024 in Edinburgh, as part of the Scottish Coastal Powerhouse Summit with key stakeholders and policymakers.
With a general election on the horizon, the Maritime Manifesto 2024 presents the key policy priorities of a sector that drives more than £116 billion into the economy, setting out recommendations and opportunities for any future government around three themes:
People
Infrastructure
Green Fuels
Chris Shirling-Rooke, CEO of Maritime UK, said: “We are inviting any future government to join us on our journey to deliver growth and prosperity by investing in one of our most valuable assets: the UK’s heritage as a maritime nation.
“We have an ambitious plan to boost our homegrown workforce across the entire United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to help us deliver the green infrastructure and technologies to achieve a more sustainable future, whilst delivering regeneration and life-changing opportunities to some of our country’s most vulnerable regions and turning them into a genuine Coastal Powerhouse.
“We look forward to working with the future administration on our mission to nurture our maritime heritage and unleash a prosperous and sustainable future.”
Maritime UK is the umbrella organisation convening the maritime industries of the United Kingdom including ports, professional services, leisure marine, shipping and engineering.
