Maritime UK Awards 2024

On Wednesday 5th June, Maritime UK were delighted to welcome over 400 guests from across the UK’s maritime sector to come together for the Maritime UK Awards 2024.

Hosted at the world famous Titanic Museum in Belfast representatives from all four corners came to celebrate the remarkable achievements of individuals and organisations that make up a sector driving over £116 billionn a year to the economy and supporting 1.1 million jobs throughout the UK’s coastline and beyond.

The awards process received an immense response, with over 200 individual applications submitted. These entries spanned various sectors of the maritime industry, highlighting the extensive range of talent and expertise within the field.

A key highlight of the evening was the keynote address presented by Joseph Kennedy III, Special Envoy for Northern Ireland. In his speech, Joseph highlighted the importance of writing and rewriting maritime history, which is what keeps 95% of the UK maritime industry fed, fueled and supplied.

Maritime UK gave out fourteen awards during the ceremony to a number of deserving winners who were selected by a judging panel of internationally recognised maritime leaders. The winners in full were:

  • Bevis Minter Award: Scarlett Barnett-Smith, sponsored by Nautilus International

  • Business of the Year Award: Port of Aberdeen, sponsored by Liverpool John Moores University

  • Clean Maritime Operator Award: Port of London Authority, sponsored by Artemis Technologies

  • Coastal Powerhouse Award: Cornwall Marine Network, sponsored by the Department for Transport

  • Diversity and Inclusion Champion Award: Seas Your Future, sponsored by Stena Line

  • Employer of the Year Award: Port of Blyth, sponsored by Harland & Wolff

  • Future Skills Award: Maritime UK Solent, sponsored by Trinity House

  • Innovation Award: Artemis Technologies, sponsored by the Port of London Authority

  • International Trade Award: Ridgeway Rockbags, sponsored by Invest Northern Ireland

  • Maritime Ambassador Award: Ian Hampton, sponsored by Expleo Group

  • Rising Star Award: George Light, sponsored by the Royal Navy
