Women in Transport Equity Index 2023 Survey

Ports

Despite having contributed £214 billion to the UK economy in 2020, only 21% of those working within the transport sector identifies as female. Within maritime, the exact representation of women remains largely unknown, bringing to the surface the pressing challenge faced in attracting, recruiting and retaining diverse talent.

The Diversity in Maritime Women in Maritime programme is pleased to support The Women in Transport Equity Index 2023, a collaborative project that seeks to provide essential baseline data, measure progress and recognise best practices in achieving gender diversity within the transport industry.

By participating in the survey, individuals can contribute to shaping a more equitable future and driving positive change. Once baseline data has been gathered, progress can be measured allowing for valuable insights into areas of strength and those which require further attention.

We invite all advocates for gender equality to promote the Women in Transport Equity Index within their networks. By sharing information about the initiative, encouraging participation and highlighting the importance of diversity and inclusion in the transport sector, you can make a significant impact.

We are also pleased to share that during London International Shipping Week 2023, we will support the sharing of the headline findings from the Women in Transport Equity Index 2023 survey during our event Women in Summit, on Friday 15th September.
