Women in Maritime - 'Together, we’ve made a strong start. Let’s redouble our efforts for 2019'

The past year has seen our establishment, our agreeing areas where to focus collaborative activity, and the launch of our own tailored framework for setting ambitious targets, reviewing performance against those, and identifying the support required to deliver.

We have achieved great momentum throughout this year, and the presence of the Women in Maritime initiative has already provided a platform for industry to share, partner and challenge one another. Much good work was already going on, but we are collectively in a much better position to now move forward together.

The Women in Maritime Pledge – that statement of intent – has now garnered over 100 signatory companies. This has provided a rich pool of companies with which to engage; not least in providing our Charter ‘pilot’ companies. 2019 will see those pledge signatories sharing and promoting their own activity to demonstrate their commitment to our pledge.

The New Year will start with the first of our ‘pilot’ companies agreeing their targets within the framework of the Women in Maritime Charter.

The subgroups have been busy, and have identified exciting proposals for collective work to improve gender diversity across our sector. Together, we’ve made a strong start. Let’s redouble our efforts for 2019.
