Film stars required! Opportunity to put maritime and apprentices in front of the nation.

Young people and apprentices training

The Department for Education is looking for individuals and employers across England to feature in its new 'Skills for Life' advertising campaign aimed at young people, adults, and employers.

This is a really exciting opportunity to be part of a national campaign that aims to bring to life the transformative impact that skills and training can have in unleashing people’s potential.

Participants must currently be pursuing a government education or training programme or have done so in the past (these include: apprenticeships, Higher Technical Qualifications, T Levels, Free Courses for Jobs, Skills Bootcamps and Multiply Numeracy courses). Employers must currently provide these courses or programmes, or have done in the past.

We are keen to hear from a diverse range of people to ensure there is a spectrum of disability, ethnic minorities, genders, and age ranges featured in the campaign.

We are also looking for employers, in particular small and medium sized, who offer any of the above or who have accessed these schemes to upskill their staff and would like to take part.

We’re particularly interested in the following sectors, but we would like to hear from anyone who is interested in being featured in the campaign.

  • Priority sectors:
  • Green/net zero
  • Digital
  • Health & social care
  • Construction and manufacturing
  • Legal

Participants would need to be comfortable in front of the camera and happy for their image to appear in national advertising. This opportunity includes TV adverts, billboards, static images used in social media, and articles in printed magazines and participants, as well as other channels. Participants will have the opportunity to specify whether they are happy to appear in both video and photography assets, or photography only. Ideally, they will be available for a film / photography shoot in October. This will be at a location (TBC) in England.

If you know anyone who you think would be interested and would like to be considered, please could you ask them to send the details below to:

adult.skills@education.gov.uk

  • Confirmation that they are happy for the Department for Education and our creative agency to contact them as part of the casting process.
  • Confirmation that they will be available for a shoot in October (specific dates and location TBC)
  • A few head shots
  • Contact email address and telephone number
  • A 30 second video introducing themselves including:
  • Name
  • Age
  • Region
  • What they are studying / have studied / offer, e.g. T Level or Apprenticeship
  • The sector they are working or studying in
  • Whether they / their employer is happy for filming to take place on your/their premises

The deadline for applications is Monday 21 August and we will be in touch with shortlisted applicants throughout August and September.

Please note that this is part of a selection process and we cannot guarantee that everyone who comes forward will be able to participate in the new campaign.

We will keep personal information safe in accordance with GDPR guidance and will only share it with our partner agency, M&C Saatchi as part of the casting process. If a learner is under 18, the necessary agreements would need to be in place from a parent or guardian should they move forward.
