What do you do?

My role involves working with international partners on Maritime Security. I love working with a diverse security community overseas.  

What does a typical day at work look like?

There is no ‘typical day’ in my role. However, a snapshot could be; Heading into the office and focus on clearing my inbox, then being pulled into a short notice meeting. I can then head over to the International Maritime Organisation to talk through their technical programme and discuss coordinating our efforts on Maritime Security. I will then be on a conference call with another International partner on an upcoming joint Maritime Security initiative. A quick dash to the airport to catch my flight to x. Get into country x, meet with Government Officials to discuss Maritime Security and how we can share best practice. In between I will be working on different projects within my team. Tomorrow will be completely different. 

How did you get to where you are?

I was previously involved in Programme Management and worked on operational activity. 

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Although my job involves a fair amount of travel, I still enjoy doing the travel piece as a tourist. I also enjoy tapping into my creative side and often pick up a paint brush. Going to gigs and music festivals is also one of my favourite past times.
