ITOPF
ITOPF is the leading, pollution response advisers providing objective technical advice worldwide on effective response to spills of oil, chemicals and other substances at sea.
Operating on a not-for-profit basis, the organisation has devoted their resources to developing a wide range of technical services to promote effective response to accidental spills from ships in order to mitigate environmental and economic damage to the marine environment. The five key services that ITOPF offers offer are spill response, claims analysis & damage assessment, contingency planning, training and information. Their services are provided to Members (tanker owners) or Associates (other shipowners) and their oil pollution insurers (normally one of the P&I Clubs), and they also offer services at the request of governments and intergovernmental organisations such as the IMO and International Oil Pollution Compensation Funds (IOPC Funds), where they have Observer status.
They work closely with government, industry and scientific partners to promote effective response to marine spills and to complement out work here at Maritime UK.
ITOPF has responded to over 800 incidents involving oil or chemical spills worldwide. Their highly skilled international team are ready to assist 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to provide impartial technical advice.
