PwC sponsors 'Business of the Year' Award
PwC has underlined its commitment to championing innovative businesses by throwing its support behind a brand-new national awards programme recognising the best of the UK’s maritime sector.
The leading professional services network is sponsoring the Business of the Year Award at the first ever Maritime UK Awards.
The Maritime UK Awards will take place in Southampton on 19 September, as thousands of people descend on the city for the Southampton International Boat Show.
Julian Gray, PwC Southampton Office Senior Partner, said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the ‘Business of the Year Award’ category in the inaugural Maritime UK Awards. This is an excellent opportunity to celebrate successes in the industry and inspire collaboration to further the maritime agenda.
“It’s fantastic to hear the Solent has been chosen to host the awards. It’s a dynamic, vibrant area with a thriving maritime industry. Our PwC Southampton office is proud to support the variety of opportunities the sector presents the region.”
The Business of the Year category has attracted a significant number of entries and the finalists have recently been revealed as Ribeye Boats, Williams Shipping and Pole Star.
Ben Murray, Director at Maritime UK, said: “We’re so pleased to have PwC playing an important part in these important awards, which are the first of their kind. The firm has a reputation for helping innovative businesses to flourish and grow and they’ll see plenty of evidence of that as the awards are handed out on the evening.”
Stuart Baker, Head of Local Growth at the Solent Local Enterprise Partnership and Chair of the Maritime UK Regional Council, added: “This event simply wouldn’t be happening without the input from organisations like PwC and we’re delighted to have their support in the Solent.”
The Maritime UK Awards will take place in a different region of the UK every year and Solent LEP was instrumental in ensuring the inaugural event would be held in the Solent.
